Dumb Question?...2010 wide glide springer front end.
looking to get a wide springer put on my 10' wide glide..i see they come in 0,3, or 6 degree rakes...i was wondering if anyone can tell me if i went with the 3 degree, does that mean i have to modify my frame for it to fit?...probably a dumb question but, any help would be appreciated!
No you do not have to modify the frame just for adding a little rake.
Your Wide Glide comes factory with 2 degrees so going to a 3 degree front end will not change much.
The new front end should be a straight bolt on, but I would replace the bearings and races while you have it open.
Springer's change geometry so a blanket statement of 3 deg is fine can be very bad advise, outcome will deppend on rocker length, tree offset etc.
Need to run the numbers in a trail calculator to know if your geometry would work. Google trail calculator and you will find information you need.
Mine pictured below has 0 rake and 0 offset to keep the trail in order on a 2006 WG no frame changes. I suspect you will be the same. Usually do not start adding rake in the tree's till past 36 deg in the neck but for every rule it can be broken.

I did not say it would be fine, I said it would not change it much from stock.
His question was if he needed to modify the frame, and my answer was based on that.

Going conventional forks to Springer and adding additional rake in tree's changes things a lot not a little. Like I said I had to remove rake from the tree's along with offset to keep trail in order.
Zig Zag I finished the springer project back in 2008 I have a fair amount of pictures in my album with it completed and in various stages of changes accept how it is currently. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...ar-albums.html
