Question Considering a Dyna Low - Help me out please!

I've had several Honda's (650, 700cc), Yamaha etc in the past and currently have a KDX220 dirt bike for occasional throttle twisting. I'll be honest owning a HD is on my bucket list and I'm getting the bug to get back on the road as the kids are grown now. I prefer a cruiser style bike and love the looks and build of the Dyna models. It's not the biggest and it's not the skinniest model and seems just about right for me for an occasional weekend back road ride.

I went and looked at a beautiful '07 FXDL low rider today and pretty much fell in love with it. It has a custom seat that is very comfortable - I'm 5'7" and my feet are flat on the ground. I did not take it around the block but started it up and checked it out and talked to the owner etc. It's just been serviced with just under 10K miles on the clock.

But now it's decision time... and I do have some reservations because the bike is bigger, heavier and more powerful than any of my previous bikes, plus it vibrates a little more lol. Then I stop and think I've seen women smaller than I am driving them around with no problems.

- Am I being concerned for no reason?
- Am I supposed to feel slightly intimidated by this bike that I want to take home?
- Anything to watch out for with these bikes?

Your input and quick response is very much appreciated!

Thanks...

The vibes are the engine rockin' on rubber mounts, it'll smooth out once you're underway. Actually the horsepower on a stock engine is probably in the mid 60's, it's the torque that plants you in the saddle. The weight it's something you have to respect especially in turns, not quite as nimble as the other bikes you mentioned. You'll love the L/R.

Weight is nothing once you get the bike rolling. I rode a cb350 up until last year, went to visit my folks, dad has a road king. Told him we should go riding I'll rent a sportster. Get to the dealership and the only bike they had to rent that day was a monster-sized heritage. Almost shat my pants when I kicked it into gear.

Was comfortable as could be 5 miles down the road. Bought me a dyna 6 months later.

My g/f went from a 85 Shadow 600 (her first bike) to a 2000 Lowrider after about 6 months and a couple thousand miles. At 5'1" and barely 120# we lowered it (using blocks) so she felt more confident. Other than that, no issues. 2 years later we're about to pull out the blocks. Her other bike now is a 07 Fatboy. Since she's comfortable riding that she realizes she doesn't need the Lowrider quite so low.

She's taken it from FL to NC, putting 1200 miles on in a 4 day weekend and riding some pretty serious twisties. She loves it.

Thumbs up

You can not go wrong with a lowrider,a bit heavier then the rides you mentioned
But after a few miles you will find how sweat a ride they are!!!
And like has been posted previously they smooth right out, a little shake and vibe at lights and such but when rolling you will be pleasantly surprised.

Buy it. You will be glad you did. Just like your other bikes, watch out for everything from bugs to trucks. Ride safe.
Get a the H-D SM too.

No, motorcycling has it's hazards. This is good reason for concern.

At first yes, but you'll get over it. Just don't let familiarity breed contempt.
