Hello everyone. I have a question and I am hoping I can get some ideas.
I have an 04 FXDWGI (wide glide) with 10K miles, the problem I am having is when I am going through the gears, I back off the throttle to shift there is about a 3 second delay before the engine backs down. Lubed the cables and had them checked by Harley and was told they were in good shape.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Wel that is not safe at all. didn't harley charge you some kind of fee? More importantly, why did they not try a little harder to suggest a fix for you? That is irresponsible on their part. Obviously something is sticking and it could be if you move the throttle (engine off) and see where the moving parts are on your throttle body, then move the same parts by hand you may find your problem. Otherwise sorry I can't help you out more than that.
First things to do, get some spray carb cleaner and clean the carb linkage, do this a couple times and see if it frees things up. You need to spray it right in the linkage, where the spring is especially so the spray blows everything out.
