This winter I installed a 103" Stage II big bore kit on my '09 FatBob. I just started it up and went for a short ride. It really ran like crap. Easing into the throttle at about 2800rpm it was hesitating and didn`t feel like it was running right at all. Continuing to slowly apply the throttle it seemed to smooth out a little at 3400rpm but didn`t seem to have much power. If I tried it with faster throttle application, it really seemed to hesitate alot. No back-firing or poping but just not running good.
I had reflashed it using my street tuner with the program suggested for the kit. After the ride, I hooked up the tuner. It gave a 1353 Fr Cyl. no combustion detected code (it was in the historical box). I checked all the connections, cleared the code and rode it again. Results were the same although there were no fault codes detected. I hooked up a timing light to the spark plug cables and it looked like there was power going to both wires. With that sick to the stomach feeling, I called the dealer. Can`t get it in until June 6th. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I really don`t know where to go from here.
It`s the Screamin Eagle interface that you hook up to the ECM and your computer. It alows you to read various data and to reprogram the ECU but is limited to what changes you can make. SE also has a Race Tuner which will alow you to make way more changes but would just get someone like me in way more trouble than I already am.
So start it and then pull the front wire, that will tell you if the cyl is firing, who knows maybe it's not getting fuel up there. I've never hear good things about SE tuners I don't care which I've heard negative things about them all. There must be an indy somewhere near you who could help you out, june 6 is a long ways off after all. but at the very least I say with that unit you will need to have the machine tuned. Money that could be better spent on a tuner such as the powervision, which can be retuned simply by changing maps! I highly reccomend buying it from fuelmoto as they will always help you in the future.
