Turkey strike...
Nice easy ride home tonight from work, just rolled up to 55 mph on the country road, then BAM! Got hit by a big adult turkey hen. She hit me right in the left mirror and on the clutch handle. The clutch handle got slammed into my knuckles and was bent back about 1/2 inch. There goes my nice adjusted clutch. The left wrist got the impact, don't hear no grinding in the wrist but still pretty sore. The lady behind me couldn't believe what just happened and said the bird is still flopping back there. Went back broke it's neck and took the longest tail feather, she won't need that anymore. The coyotes we have will feast good tonite. Becareful out there.

half expected to see this tread was form Southern Oregon. Last week came around a shady corner and Peacock was on the edge of my lane, the very next day had a close encounter with a turkey. Always wonder whats going to happen when I tag one of those tree rats?

Turkeys are one of my biggest concerns here in Kentucky. We have ridiculous numbers of them. I've had several close encounters at head/chest height, but so far have avoided a collision. They sure do love to fly over the road at the worst time.

Elk , moose, grizzly, brown bear, whitetail deer, mule deer, more deer LOL, antelope, mountain lion, turtles , turkeys, and the list goes on... montana : its not for wimps LOL. Hope you weren't hurt too badly when the turkey ambushed you.

I never even thought turkies could even lift off the ground. I did have about a 14" hawk or falcon hit me in the shin while riding once, there was feather quills stuck throug my rain pants past my jeans and into my skin....ouch. Poor thing could have killed me.

Those turkeys can get big and just come out of anywhere. Good to hear your ok. Last year one jumped out off a hill. I was going about 55 mph. It was me (driving), my wife and my 2 kids in the truck.
