Anyone run into connection problems with the combo speedo/tach?
I have had to remove the dash 3 times in the last week to check the connection on my speedo. Seems the factory connection is very sensitive. I think I need to figure a way to keep it seated very tight. This last time I hit a big bump in the road and it started to wig out. Got home and it all seems seated tight. So I reseated it and it's working fine again.
The wire harness connector has two tabs ("ears") that snap onto the sides of the speedo connector - double check to make sure those tabs are fully locked. With the tabs fully engaged it's going to take more than a bump to get that connector to come loose. For what it's worth, mine has been on for over a year now without any problems. Hope you get it worked out.

The tabs are seated. But I did take the connection off again and bend them even more to help it say tight. They seem to not be as tight as they were when I switched out the factory speedo. I think I may make a wrap or zip tie to keed it seated deeper.
I've had mine on for over a year as well with no issues... Maybe some sort of electrical flux or paste could be put on the pin connectors to help make better contact...

I did just as you stated the last time I took it off....so far so good! Took a pretty bumpy road to see how it would do on the way to work today and it's holding. Hope this fixes it!
Well it died today my combo speedo!!! I put the factor one back in and it works just fine. I bought the combo speedo/tach back in 11/25/11. It only has a 90 warranty if you do not buy it with your new bike installed.....other wise it would have a 2year warranty! I miss it already! Guess I need to look for another!

Do the male pins on the OE fitting look any different than the new fitting ( wider / thicker maybe )? Try closeing the gap a little on the female pins. Use a small sharp pick to reach into the female socket. Be gental though. After you make sure the connecting pins are tight as possible, make sure that the connector body goes together tight as possible.
