RC, First set 12,000 solo, but the last two sets I have been 2 up and they wear faster, I have 30k on the clock, I'll get another 2k out of this one max then I'll be putting my 4th tire on the back, this will be the first time I don't replace the front, normally it would be cupped, but this front tire looks new with no cupping. I changed the way I brake to see if that helped my cupping. A little less front brake than normal.
I ordered an Avon off motorcycle-superstore called one of their installers and the guy told me not to order it that they would, give me the same price and just charge for the mounting. Tire cost me $160, after mount and tax it was $200. I'd stay away from HD.
I was reading the 10k maintenance prices at my closest dealer 300 something for sportys 500 for big twins. WTF is that.
I was having trouble with the infamous front end wobble on my bike and thought it might be the front wheel out of balance. I took it to the Honda dealer, the Harley dealer had already balanced it, and I just wanted it checked. They said they would balance it for free...I couldn't believe it as the same folks that own the Harley dealership own the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki dealership.

the tire game is a expensive one. I wish I knew someone who could show me how to properly take of the rims and put them back on. I need a mentor. It is so expensive its almost not a pleasure anymore. its a pain.
When you are ready give me a shout, it really is not that difficult. Hardest part when I did mine last time was getting the bead to set on the new one.
I use Dyna beads so no balancing needed. I have the spoons and rim protectors here. If it is really tough to pop the bead the truck bumper works nicely too.
Well you pay for the labor re and re, if you can take the wheel off, any indy can mount it for $20, put ride-on sealant in the tire, you don't even need to balance.
if you ride at anything around or above highway speed BALANCE the tire it will create speed wobbles for you. In the shop we only balance with dyna beads, they are great! that price is a bit crazy!
