I was told a potted cactus doesn't count. Here in the gulf coast, you will see some wild prickly pear on the road side, but you never know when. Could ride 200 miles around here and not see any...
I don't where anyone said a potted cactus doesn't count.
I saw where you said you used to have one but it died when you watered it. How often did you water it? A cactus needs well drained soil, if it wasn't in the proper soil and was over watered then it most likely got root rot and died from that.
Damn girl, that sounds like my ex wife...Sorry 'bout that. He wanted something like a Soronan desert cactus, but I bet a potted one would do... BTW, are you a fire fighter, hot, or both??? tomp
All my plants are living. I have the gift of growing. I've got a prickly Pear (it's got fruit on it right now) a rat tail (I wear welding gloves to move it out for the summer) and a little open terrarium with a couple different cactus in it and another one in my kitchen. I've got like 30 or more assorted plants.
Kinda like me. I have a back yard that looks like a rain forest. 4-5 feet high and probably 20 trees. Hoping to get government assistance for a wildlife sanctuary soon...Funny that my front yard is almost dead, due to lack of rain, but the back yard is SOOO lush. I don't understand why the difference in just a 50' separation.
I like to buy the plants that stores have nearly killed, I pick them up on clearance for a really reduced price and bring them back to life. I've got mini roses planted outside that I bought for 10 cents per plant a few weeks after Valentines day around 7 years ago. They're going strong now. My Split Leaf Philodendron cost $5 and had only 1 leaf on it, now it's a beauty, I've cut it back once too.
It's cool you value life, even of throw away plants. A rarity in this day and age. I salute you for that. I have plants in my atrium that I have cared for, for 15-20 years. They are like friends to me after all these years, outside my bedroom window....
