I love your loose usage of the term "noobie". I guess the fact that I didn't know a bolt size makes me a noobie. What ever helps you sleep at night...

First, if it wasn't addressed to the OP and his issue then why put it here? Start your own thread. Better yet, write a book. You can include all your irrelevant pearls of wisdom no one wants an answer to. His thread was asking a reasonable question about a bolt size. You had two choices: answer the question or ignore the post. Instead you gave an insult with no basis for the remark. How do you know he is a newbie? How do you know, from his post, that he thinks he knows everything? I guess your 68 years makes you clairvoyant as well as an expert in all things mechanical. Second, I did give him useful information- don't pay attention to you or your dial caliper recommendation to get that bolt head recess size.

"Teach a man to fish..."

You still don't get it. That's what earmarks you as a noobie. You don't need to know the bolt size--you just need to learn how to measure and figure things out for yourself. Not just you, what w/ so many recommendations from "experts" to NOT learn how to help yourself.

Your choice, whether to learn, or not. If not, you'll be back, needing help w/ the next fastener.

Well, I just completed a front end rebuild and I only needed to know 2 fastener sizes. So you can take your noobie tirade and shove it up your a$$.

And further more, that's what this forum is about...helping fellow riders. If you have no intention of doing that and only posting garbage, please don't let the door hit you on your a$$ on your way out.

Had you bothered to read the service manual you would have read: "...use a 12mm allen wrench to loosen the seat pipe screw..."

But a smartass guy like you doesn't need to read the manual.

That is a bunny with a pancake on its head. The relevance you ask? The same as the information you provided, only the bunny is much cooler and easier to get along with. Bunny wins.

First , smartass, the 2012 Dyna HD service manual, which he used, doesn't say that. It only says "in the next step, use a hex key to loosen seat pipe screw". It DOES NOT SAY 12 mm anywhere in the disassembly section. So, while your manual may say that, his does not. Your assumptions make you to be the real *** here. Second, what are you so angry about, old man? I read your post introducing yourself when you joined this forum. Twenty years between rides. You join the forum two years ago and introduce yourself in a full page post, no less! No one wrote back, 'who cares?'. Everyone greeeted you warmly and was friendly. Try doing that in return. There are hundreds of questions on this forum that could be answered with"read the service manual". You once wrote to someone,(in response to their question), "it's in your owners manual". Gee, that was friendly and helpful. I saw your question asking about GPS unit recommendations based on your limiting criteria. You could have found out the answer for yourself. Forum members could have told you to go to bestbuy or do your own internet search. They didn't. Most offered specific recs with links. One answer was 'buy a map'. I doubt you found that helpful. If you think that it is your job to tell forum members they need to learn to do it all on their own and not ask questions here, you are in the wrong place. If you get a thrill out of telling people if they want to know the answer, read the book, become a grade school teacher. We are all adults here. We ask questions here to start the conversation, get answers when we don't understand the manual, or maybe haven't bought the manual yet. Or maybe his manual is different from yours. **** happens. At 68 you should start forgiving people for your perceived shortcomings and give them the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise you will die a lonely man.

Perhaps I should feel flattered that you would spend so much time and effort researching all this, and making an issue of it in this thread, off topic. A pathetic contribution.

Basically Paul just undoubtedly proved you to be a typical "grumpy old man". Game, set, match.
