street glide is a very expensive cruiser. it not a touring bike, just a stiff riding cruiser with a fairing and bags. to make it a real touring bike is going to cost a few bucks...the seat sucks, the rear shocks suck and many other things to make it a true touring bike. hell even the the windshield is to low. it puts the wind right into your face. it looks cool, and if thats the look you want for over 20 grand, go for it. myself i wouldnt pay that kind of money for a bike you need to spend alot more to make it comfortable.

+1. get yourself a switchback and put a batwing on it and just put a stereo in the batwing. sure you wont be able to control the radio from the handlebars, but minus the fairing, the switchback is basically a streetglide with slightly smaller bags. but im also in the same boat. sometime in the future id like to get a streetglide for longer trips and put the 120r in my dyna with a fat tune up.
Ride what you like. But if I had 20k to spend on a Harley and wanted comfort & performance, the Road Glide would be the only bike I'd consider. Neither Street Glide nor Ultra Classic would make the cut- steering is just too heavy with a Batwing full of stuff sitting on the front end, and a Road King doesn't offer the wind protection I'd look for in a distance bike. I can live with my Street Bob on the long hauls for the joy it gives me in the twisties and the way it carves up traffic.
I have both , 2006 streetbob and a 2011 streetglide
totally different animals, one is a nasty bmx scooter and the other one is a long distance touring grunter
If I was to go bigger to a full size it would be to a evo road king or flhs or shovelhead flh.I can't get past that fairing either and I don't like windshields.
I'm spoiled, I bought the bagger first and the dyna second, then put an SE 120R engine in the dyna. Can't imagine not having both, wouldn't want to pick one since between the two they fill all of my riding moods and needs.

Love my SG. The seat on my 2012 is very comfortable, I have no issue with the shocks. I did put a new LRS shield on to reduce the any buffering. You will quickly adjust to the batwing. Yes they are expensive, but I'm pretty sure you know that and didn't ask anyone on the forum how you should spend your hard earned money. They are awesome bikes. Good luck
