I have considered it a lot. Even took one out for a test ride. I like the looks, radio and bags to carry stuff but I just can't get past the closed off feeling of the fairing. On my Dyna, even with a windshield, I still have the openess that I love. I really try to like the Street Glide but every time I sit on one I can't get past that damn fairing.
I guess it really depends on what you are looking for. For me it aint going to happen.
I have both. If I had ridden a Dyna before I got the SG I would never have bought the bagger. The Dyna is so much more fun to ride.
That said, if I'm going to do a 300+ mile day, no way would I want to take my Dyna. The fairing definitely takes the wind off you. For me it's my legs that get tired on the Dyna.
I've been thinkin' on pickin one up for touring and trickin' the hell out of the Dyna as a SAWEET bar-hopper...
This is what I'm thinking of doing. Although, for some reason SG's are too much money around here. I'll probably end up getting a RK and putting a detatchable fairing on it, or an UC and stripping it down to look like a SG. I added it up and I think I could be $2-3k ahead going this route.
I went through the same thing. I was dead set on trading mine in. Couldn't get over spending that much. I ordered the 120r crate motor, Joes fork bag stereo, and am going to put on footboards. I think it will more than satisfy my craving. Nothing is in yet, so until then I will still look at them. But I am tired of the flames, so I am wanting to paint mine like the denim black street glide. I love that bike.
I had the same problem till I wrecked the Wide Glide.Put a deposit on a Black 2012 Street Saturday,in Langhorne Pa.I'm leaving in 5mins. to go look at a 2012 Big Blue Pearl Street Glide in New Castle Del.I will have one of these in the next 2 weeks.Just got to figure out the color I'm leaning towards Black.
