As the title sugests I left my ign switch on acc for a week, any idea if this will have damage anything other than flattening the battery?
I did and oil change last weekend and when I finished I ran it for a bit then switched it took the key out BUT my switch has been a bit loose since I got my bike about a month back. As it turns out the switch didnt return properly but I was still able to take out the key (round sort 05 FXDC) while the acc was still on, the only reason I noticed was that the odometer light caught my eye. I had walked past it I dont know how many times too.
bit of pita, give the battery a slow 800m/amp trickle charger, hopefully you still have a little charge in the battery. if it is below 3v, even a small charger may have trouble reviving it.it will take quiet a while to bring it back to a healthy voltage. good luck mate.
grumpy.
Thanks Guys,
The battery wasnt completely flat, it did turn over but not enough to catch on then it just did the clickity clickity thing, I jump started it and ran it for a while, it started ok after that, but I'll leave it a day or so then try starting it again. If it doesnt want to start again I'll wip the battery out and put it on the charger. I know once a battery has been flattened it will need a deep charge rather than a top up which is all you really get from the charging system.
I was more concerned that there is some other gadgets in the system somewhere that may have burnt out from being left on too long.
Did the same thing recently. Didn't realize it until I went out for a ride. Put it on a charger for 24 hours and all's well since then. I'm not even sure how the switch got moved, maybe one of my son's friends or my oldtimers kicking in for me. Glad yours recharged ok... tomp dd50
did the samething on my fourwheeler , just put it on charger overnight and it was great , did same thing on 76 shovel and it blew coil and coil oil all over bike
