Thanks, and that's what I had thought I just wasn't sure why when I started this so I wanted to make sure.
I do have another question though, I thought the programmer was going to raise my rev limiter but it's still set to 5500? I'll give them a call tomorrow to find out about it I think it's just an option I have to enable in the tuner, I think? But my question is did they deliberately leave it stock or can I safely raise it a little?
I understand the potential problems or increased wear, bent rods, etc. but it's not like I'll be making a habit of driving around bouncing off the rev limiter, I'm thinking it would just be a bit of a buffer if you will. 99% of the time it'll be well under 3k anyway

I bounce from my rev limiter every time I ride. It just happens.
I ride with my gears WIDE OPEN always. Motors are meant to be pushed that way.

Contact Fuel Moto.
Alright fine, I hit it a few times today... that's why I know it's still only 5.5k If I get on it sure I'll hit the limiter fro time to time but that's why I figure the higher it is the more time I have to shift
Anyway what is yours set at, I would sertainly think these motors can safely take a few more rpm's right?
Oh well. I talked to fuel moto and they seem to think "there is absolutely no reason not to raise it" so I'm gonna raise it when I get home.
I can never get any detail out of this guy though. I'm sure he's done this so many times before he knows it's fine, but I get a little worried when you ask about something technical like that and just get yeah it'll be fine you know
anytime ive added a breather and a higher flow/ less back pressure pipe ive got decel pops.... you can tune them out to a degree but i have never gotten rid of them completely....all normal...congrats on the Harley....
What do you want to know? It's increasing the rev limiter..pretty self explanatory?
Yeah, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to break anything. I mean they set it a 5500 for a reason after all, it's not like I can raise it to 16000 and pretend I've got a sport bike or anything, there is a limit before you will break **** and I was just hoping to get a clearer picture of where that limit is.
I'm sure 6200 is fine, it's only 700 more I just like to get all the facts when I start tinkering with things
I just got the correct air filter today, or at least I think I did, but this cover doesn't fit. These Harley Air Cleaner Trim pieces are supposed to bolt right onto the screaming eagle type filters right? I got it on but I had to put a spacer in between the filter and the star bracket that it connects to. I don't recall anyone else having to do this? Is this normal and either way does anybody have a better part to use than an oil cap I stabbed a hole through?
It looks to be about a 1/2" or so I think, what size is the bolt? I can probably find some sort of rubber isolator or something once I figure out the correct space and bolt size.

I almost forgot. When I took the filter off there was quite a bit of oil in the bottom, enough that it started dripping almost immediately. I understand it sucks in oil but this seems excessive?
