Well done Dirknar
Just get yourself some 2x10 and rip it to the proper width, or some pieces of 2x6 like I did here, easy enough to make a jig.
Always better when the parts are made by your own hand. Frankly if anyone gets critical, just tell them to show you how to do it better.
Great idea! Never thought to make a jig! Will do for sure. I made my own but not very refined but it was scrap rebar and square stock and took about 45 min to make and 20 min to paint..
I'm working on another one. This time a little taller and a little more shape. I also got a cold rolled bar this time, its the one on the right. Its much nicer to work with. Harder, stiffer, nicer finish. I should make some out of stainless.. This time it will be square and straight too. The plates are taking a little to long to fab up so I need a laser cutter..lol.. Anyways I might add some kind of small luggage rack to the back of this one. I will update as I go.
You need to get to know the guys over at alcobra metals in Hillyard.
I have had them cut 3/8" stainless plate for me, very reasonable.
Can usually find mill ends for a lot of stuff I make and only pay for the metal by the pound.

I try to build a jig for everything, so much easier to get a good look at how it is going together.
Even jigged up the "bike" when I built my bars. Made it real easy to make sure everything felt right for me, and all at the right angles.

That would be great! Unfortunatly the mill, tig, mig I use are at work. One of these days.....I will make a jig for sissy bars though. Thanks for the ispiration.
Nice bar and VERY nice bike, soft 02.. I love that rear fender.
Thanks hog . I drive by alcobra all the time, the shop I work for is just down the street from them. Pro mechanical services, i'm a field HVAC installer, i'm working out at EWU right now. There is also a powder coater right there to, we got it all,lol.. Ya the simple jig is making it much easier already.
thanks for the comments guys. Maybe if I can get a good system down and get some newer side plate patterns,I can make them for different bikes.. Oh ya I need more free time as well, haha..

Thanks! Seems like I'm always changing things. Kinda want to go back to pacific blue pearl.
Almost done, weld this one up, drill out the mounting holes and paint it. I might see how much powder coat is for this one, its much nicer. Oh ya removable pad coming up for this one as well..
You'll be getting a PM from me in the near future BTW, I got my side plates off and traced one for you. I also had a couple ideas that you might be able to add to it to possibly help you sell more.
Anyway, nice work in the bar, I'll hit you up soon.
