Going to buy a a 82 fxr shovel need some advise?
K here's the skinny. I'm looking into buying a 82 FXR shovel that's been bored and storked recently to a 96 ci, with a 5 spd elect start. I'm taking a 70 mile trip sight unseen. The old man who is selling it simply said he is to old and has kidney problems and it rides too stiff. He said it will make the 70 mile trip back home without a issue. I'm trying to imagine this bike in my head. He said its not good looking but runs great. It's got a jap bike front end single disc (says it looks like a lowrider front end), and a Honda dirt bike rear fender. But he has all the original tins incuding the stock rear fender and dual disc original front end. I'm getting a pickup bed full of extra parts to go with it. The FXR and shovelhead thing is new to me. What should I be looking for. He swears up and down its mechanically sound and fast as hell. Just ugly and needs the cosmetics done. Input would be awesome. I know these FXR bikes are a bike of there own. And they have a cult like following like that band rush lol.
