I know this has been discussed many times, but I'm looking for a more comfortable seat for my 2012 FXDC. The stock seat is fine for me, but my wife complains every time she has to ride on it.
I need to stay under $300, so that limits me somewhat. I'm looking at the HD Sundowner & the touring seat....looks to me like the only difference is that the Sundowner is 16" wide & the touring seat is 15" wide for the rider & both are 12" for the passenger.
Neither are a good looking seat, but I'm looking for comfort here & to make my wife's *** more comfortable. Think I would get her on the bike more if she was more comfortable.
Can anyone recommend one over the other or even something else better (staying under $300)?
I have a wide glide and am facing the same issues. Not alot of options for less than 300 bucks as no one make a passenger seat that will mount up to a stock solo seat.
I will probably just have to spend around 500 bucks and get an ugly but comfortable seat for her.
If $300 is the budget, hit ebay and look for a slightly used Mustang wide touring seat.
+1 on that, you are not likely to find a good new comfortable 2up setup for under 300.
Mustang seats hold up well, I sold my used 2up Wide about a year ago for 300, was still in great shape after 5 years/40k on the bike.
I got my Mustang Vintage wide 2-up on eBay for $190 shipped. It is in brand new condition too. I just took my time and didn't rush. Same seat is well over $300 New. The wife loves it compared to the Corbin gunfighter that I had. I like it a lot better too.
Mustang seats are good and i looked into getting one last year but i went with a sundowner instead. It's very comforable and my wife loves it she hated the stock seat.
I have a 06 Wide Glide with the touring seat, and my wife and I did a 1500 mile trip last fall with a couple of 400 mile days. It's not great, but my wife can't go more than about 60 miles without needing a break on the stock seat. It's ugly as help, but it worked and it was only about $250 IIRC.
My dealer let me mount it to my bike before I bought it so she could try it out.
