Harley FINALLY doing the right thing and issued a service bulletin for faulty voltage regulators on 2012 models this week. This after being stranded for 4 hours in the middle of nowhere in NH last week when my bike just quit. Seen many posts from other '12 owners with the same prob. Brought it to the dealer and they said it was faulty battery but I knew better. Checked the service bulletins today and BAM there it was! Waiting for the stealer to get the shipment of new regs......
for recall information sign up for a profile at harley-davidson.com. You can enter your vin # there and it will tell you if any recalls for your bike have been done. Good luck to all those who have faulty parts.
Got the street glide done last saturday... Figures all three of our bikes fall under the campaign, no parts for the dyna or the softail yet, luckily no issues at this time, supposed to have parts by weds or thurs..going to drop them saturday if parts come in
I wish I would have check this site before I went to Friday the 13th at Port Dover. The day was ausome and approx 120,000 bikes showed up. Then the long ride home and my switchback started displaying those idiot lights on the console...........then she just quit on the highway. Lucky to get off safely. After a 4 hour wait, the bike was picked up. Had the dealer pick it up today and they said, yes its the voltage regulator. Need to wait about a week for the new part. Why didn't they inform me in advane so me and the wife wouldn't need to go through all that BS. This could have been prevented.
Hi Guys, I recently traded my '07 Sportster Custom in on a '12 WideGlide. I've checked the attached link above on the regulator and the date code on my bike's regulator, also the Harley Web site and mine is definately affected. I just called my dealer and they tell me that since it's not an actual recall at this time, only a "product program" that IF there's a problem they'll take care of it. If it does'nt become an issue then all is well. Does this sound right? Do I have to be broken down on the side of the road or somewhere away from home ('become an issue") to get it taken care of? Should I contact Harley direct. Thank's in advance for your advise....
