i was looking at getting a pair of west coast t bars for my bike. i was going to get the street bob version with the clamps already welded on but i talked to a buddy from work and he told me he had heard they were kinda weak at the welds where they clamp to the trees? anybody have a pair or heard anything similar to this story? also does anybody know if they sell black battery box bands cus the chrome one needs to come off i cant stand it
seem welded and rigid enough. dont seem like they would see enough stress to be an issue. you will need to cut down 2 of the clamp bolts and take material off the head so they fit in.
if you were closer to california or i was closer to chicago i would send you a lot of stuff joe but idk if i can handle not being able to ride my bike for a week plus lol...but just in case i do decide that route what would it be to get the fork lowers and battery band powder coated from you? ive seen bikes on here and your bike that you have powder coated and i must say they do look really good. also what about turn around time for powder coat how long it usually take?
i have the 'sbob' bars on my 2010. they're very strong at all points and offer a lot of control over the bike. much improved over the stock mini apes...don't know if it's equal to the control afforded by the regular bars. they're a high quality product. fyi you probably won't be able to fit your stock riser bolts in between the bars and the pilot hole due to the angle of the bars.
Also, op could try the Bungking gusseted t bars. Similar price and the have bar across the bottom so they drop right in to factory street bob riser. They also can be adjusted forward and back because of the design. Check them out
