I'd be interested too if wideband sensors really are being used.

I've just had a look at a Dyna 2012 map in the latest version of the SE tuning software and they have made some changes with these maps so that you can enter Lambda values instead of AFR, like you have been able to with the touring models.

However, there is still definitely a closed-loop option (the cells go bold); you get this if you enter any value between 14.1 and 14.6. Entering a value outside this and closed-loop is disabled for that cell. This is handy as it saves messing about with CLB tables. That all sounds like narrowband working still.

I'd say your biggest decision is 96" vs 103". If you are OK w a 96", then consider that the FXDF didn't change in any meaningful way between 2008 - 2010. I'd suggest you look at a slightly older bike w/ low miles ... save a pile of cash and put that into the upgrades/aftermarket purchases that are sure to come. Also, with a used bike, you're likely to get goodies that come along with the bike (exhaust, saddlebags, windshield, etc.) and getting them w the bike will only cost you a fraction of what it would cost to buy them yourself. In then end, you'll end up with the bike exactly the way you want it for a lot less cash.

if the price was close id go with the 103"........ but if you can find a low mile clean used FB with exhaust and tuner intake already, saving you $1200 to $1600, then add a cam and what not.... it would be a lot stronger than a stock 103" i rode a new 110" and a new 96" and didn't really notice a huge power difference........the Fat Bob is a great handling bike and comes highly recommended......i too walked into the Harley dealership because of the looks of the Fat Bob

Default 2013?

Thanks for all the replies.

Does HD leak what the 2013 models will be like?

I understand the new models are released in August. Is that like clockwork for HD?

Any opinions on waiting?

Sorry to burst your bubble but I have it reliable sources that with the retirement of Willie G., Black has been discontinued as a color choice at the end of the 2012 year. This includesk the Denim Black. In an effort to make the New FXDF more user freindly new 2013 color choices for the FXDF will be Rambling Rose, Mint Frost Green, Toupe, Mother Earth Green, Mauve, and Chartrose.
Other improvements will be a new exhaust recycling system to improve emissions along with a reduction of exhaust decibels to 87db and a new economy mode that will automatically skip shift from 1st to third, then 3rd to sixth, then the rear cylinder will shut off when cruising to save fuel and help meet the new federal mandated 2014 60 MPG standards a year early. Additionally the fuel tank will have a new bladder insert for safety which will drop the capacity to 4 gallons. There is also a new smart ECM that will auto-retune the bike to the most economy mode available from a remote site anytime the monitor senses the tune to be out of spec.
So if you care about society and mother earth you really need to hold off for the 2013 model year.

Seriously dude regardless which you decide on, you will love the bike.
Bob

If those are the changes for '13. I have a feeling that older bikes will be harder to find in the near future
