About a month and a half ago I was in a wreck coming home from a three day ride. 15 miles from home a sheriff hit me trying to exit the freeway. I have a 2000 Dyna convertible and the 2 bags and windshield need replaced. Problem is the dealer, Superstition Harley can't seem to find any. Does anyone know where I might find original new bags and a windshield... Thanks Nic...
I would guess you have checked the harley catalog for original stuff, J & P cycle for aftermarket options and ebay for both options in new or used.
I thought the Dyna frame was the same from 1999 to 2005?
If you are looking at Harley parts check for the stamping of part number on item..Harley is pretty good at putting part numbers on such items and then you can enter the number on discounted harley part websites.
Fault/no fault state doesn't apply when a city agency is involved in a traffic collision. Especially a LE agency. They are liable! If its a legitimately ethical agency, they will first have to determine if the accident was avoidable or unavoidable. There needs to be good Freaken reason for the investigation to determine it was unavoidable. I would say that the agency is probably shitting bricks because you have a lawsuit. Like the other member said, they will be quick to settle. The officer is expected to be a better driver. That's why they receive so much training. If the cop was driving like an unsafe A-hole, or being careless, nail him! It could have cost you your life! On the flip side, if you were at fault because you were driving like an A-hole, don't be greedy and nail someone that doesn't deserve it. let the insurance sort it out.
I did not even know they still made the convertable in 2000, I have the 2001 FXDXT (the replacment for the convertable) My buddy had an older convertable 80CI and it was comfortable and fast. IMHO 2000 is not an old bike but HD does not do much to support the bikes they no longer produce. I have had pretty good luck finding the parts I need for my bike, first thing you need is the HD parts manual for your bike so you have the correct part numbers, then search dealers Like LS and see if they can get them new, also you will be able to get a true value for the insurance company, next save several searches on eBay with email notifications, some times dealers will sell new old stock items on ebay, or sellers actualy know the part numbers, next a general search on eBay for HD saddle bags, it takes a lot of looking throught a lot of listings but you will get the best deal if the sell does not know what they have and don't list it properly. those Bags are kind of rare and look like they mount the same as my FXDXT bags a company called leather pro is starting to reproduce the FXDXT bags and maybe they also make convertable reproductions.

Used Harley Davidson saddle bags asking 175.00 for the pair 509-521-565three
With a good amount of elbow grease and TLC, they can be restored unless they're torn or holed, in which case you'll need to add a saddle maker to the mix. But they are salvageable.
