Default Help with an 06 Dyna Low Rider

Good evening,
I currently own an 02 883 Sportster but am feeling ready for an upgrade. I was looking at the Harley Store in my neighborhood and they have an 06 Dyna Low Rider. Beautiful upgrades on the chrome. I test rode it but noticed that after about 5 minutes the pipes got really hot. The pipes are custom not stock. I do think this is a good upgrade for me as far as speed AND comfort on highway and long rides but I am concerned about the pipes. Is this pretty standard for a Low Rider? And if so what kinds of modifications could I make to eliminate this problem and how much can I expect to spend? Also, I am concerned that I might be paying too much for this bike since it's coming from a Harley dealership. Asking price out the door (taxes, title, fees), will be $11,575, I checked the Kelly Blue book and it listed that a bike such as this one is worth $9,918. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by
"real hot", but pipes can be easily teplaced. A low rider will be way better than any 883,and if you get it from a dealer say should warranty it for a while so if there are any problems you can bring it back.

The price is prob about right coming from a dealer just make sure you get some sort of warranty and you can always talk them into some other things, helmet, clothing, gift card etc...

I have progressed from a 95 883 Hugger to a 2006 1200 Custom to my current 03 Dyna Low. I LOVE my Dyna as it really feels like a sporty on steroids. I can relate to the comfort on the highway and long rides!

If you are concerned with the pipes ask to speak to the service department about the bike. If they are unwilling to do that I would walk.

Price does not seem out of line given what I have seen. When I bought mine I searched all the local dealers, (90 mile radius) and there are some deals out there. Harley has a nice used bike search but it doesn't include all dealers, but it can give you and idea what dealers are charging for a specific model...

Good Luck!

That's nearly the price of a new one! My '09 cost $9k, two years ago.

Do your own due diligence. You can save $1,000's buying from the original owner.

I bought a 2006 Super Glide for $7700. Bought from owner so comes with certain risks. Like others have said, good upgrade from a Sportster. Not sure about the pipes, could be normal.

Price for a new Low Rider in 2006 was about $16,000 not including taxes and state fees.

If the OTD price of $11,575 includes tax & state fees, then the sticker price is about $10,400 or so. Not too far off from the Kelley Blue Book the OP mentioned.

With a decent warranty not a bad deal. Although I'd check if the bike had the dreaded '06 Dyna Inner Primary Bearing problem or not. If it did, I'd make sure the trans cases were replaced.

I really enjoy my Low Rider. The pipes get pretty hot on mine but that's to be expected.
