Dyna Sound System
New to the forum; always come here looking for tricks and ideas... Ive been thinking about putting a sound system on my 00' Super Glide for some time now. Friend has an 08' Lowrider with the HD Boom speaker kit. Those speakers are just too big for my setup, so I'm looking elsewhere. Ive been checking into DWG, Pyle, Kuryakyn, J&M, etc...Theres just too many choices to decide from, without being able to see or hear for myself.. Anyone have any, or had any experiences with these systems? Whats the best bang for your buck? I plan on mounting them to my 1" handlebars right beside my speedo. I want a set that can still be heard at higher speeds, but dont want that bulky look either....Any help/advice/pics would be greatly appreciated..
talk to Joe about a stereo bag.
Heres a link to one of the topics about his stereo. I ordered mine on monday and he's making it for me now. a 500w speaker and amp 300$ shipped.

There's going to be a trade off with sound vs size.
I've tried several stereo's over the years and without having a fairing with large speakers there is only so much you can do.
I have an amp from Sharp that says it's "600 watts", yeah right. It sounds about as loud as the other 200-300 watts, which I'm sure are all about really 75 watts.
I have a windshield, bagger look on my Switchback, so a little more bulk on the front is a trade off to have some music. I mounted a DWG Amp in the headlight housing and have a wireless remote on my left handle bar for volume and on/off.I mounted the speakers as low as I could instead of off the mirrors, like I said, there's always a trade off to get enough sound, and being behind the windshield helps too. Works about as well as I can find.
The fork bag looks interesting but don't know if it would really be loud enough, and what about the heat from the amp?
Here's a video I made of my pipes and the stereo to give you an idea.
Good Luck.

Nice bike man. You said that you used a DWG amp...how about the speakers? I was leaning toward the DWG 2 1/2" speakers/amp combo... But i wouldnt be able to put the amp in the headlight bucket; no room in the for that too. I would have to mount in underneath the seat...
Pyle PLMCA60 -- I use it and it rocks.
Just understand 3 things:
1) yes you can hear it at highway speeds but its best if you know the song...
2) you will not get a lot of bass, which even touring bike owners will admit they do not get from their speakers at speed.
3) use an MP3 players with a good equalizer interface. You'll be able to tune it better for the small speakers.

I plan on putting a media player setup on my bike using my iPod touch soon as I get an audio fairing from Reckless.

I had the DWG set mounted to my detach windshield. They speakers sounded good, but quality is poor and after one rain, stopped working. I have Joe's speakers but I really just ride to fast and my bike is too loud for them to be effective.
The only real option for me is ear buds, keeps the wind noise down and can listen to the tunes.
