The wide glide I have has HD shocks (emblem is etched on the top) but are not the stock shocks. The guy told me they were very hard to find Fox shocks and they look really sweet, and are supposed to be adjustable by twisting the top. No span wrench, just grab and twist type so I'm told. He also told me they twisted very hard, and boy do they, cannot get them to twist by hand. I have searched online and cannot find any info on anything like this. Anyone here have a clue? lol Secondly this bike has a set of drag handlebars and I am going back to the originals. The grips are Aileron's which are supposedly easy to remove because they are glueless according to the info I got. Any tricks to switching them from one set of bars to the other with out ruining the grips?
If they are not glued grips, its cake. Mine aren't, and they just come right off. They have a flange the gets clamped by the switch housings.
If they are glued, I think the throttle side will still come right off. I have seen a lot of solutions for getting the left side off. It seems a lot of folks will shoot some WD-40 in there.
I bet if you did a search on removing grips, you would get a lot of results
i'd say the guy is pullin your leg on the shocks. likely they weren't made by fox. a lot of people are under the impression that fox made some good shocks, well they did in the 80's but only for offroad.
