Crazy story too, I would be just as livid. I wonder if it was really 22000 plus the 8600, if the odometer stopped counting whe he bent the pin. If that's the case the actual miles could be anything.
Thanks everyone. so far I love it. Best part is every mile put on this bike will be from me, and i'll know the maintenance was always kept up on it. I've never had anything brand new and I'm stoked about it!

I was definitely livid. I was going to go to his apartment and talk to him about it since i lost his number, but I calmed down and figured it would probably end up bad. I'm in the military and the last thing I need is to get myself in trouble. I was thinking the same thing about the odometer not working. For all I know there were a million miles on it. If there really was 22k I probably would have still bought it, but its just the fact that he lied to me about it. I'm a very honest person, so I don't appreciate it when people lie to me and make me out to be a fool. Anyways it all turned out for the best. I won't be dumping all my money into a bike that breaks every time I start it, and I got the bike I've been wanting since 2010 with a paint scheme I'm in love with. Best of all my wife is cool with it too and loves the bike!
Great story. My first bike was an 85 FXRT, decked out with fairing, lowers, spotlights, saddle bags and trunk. When I got married, we sold the bike to make the down payment on our first house. 20 years later and my wife says its time for me to get a bike again, so now I have a 2012 Wide Glide.
Speaking from experience - the FXR series was definitely a better handling and better riding bike. I miss it. Riding this Wide Glide is like driving a tank compared to the FXRT. Oh well - I always liked the looks of the Wide Glide.

I was hooked on the Wide Glide looks as well. Had I known that the quality of the ride was so inferior, I would have done more research for something with equal handling as my FXRSSP. I owned that FXR for 20 years and loved the way it handled.
Congrats on your new Wide Glide. I absolutely love EVERYTHING about mine!! For those who say they don't like the stock seat I would suggest putting a Fat Bob stock seat on it. I did that with mine and I have absolutely no discomfort when riding. To make it even better I got it off a forum member for $100.
