Default First Harley

Im looking at buying my first Harley and have the opportunity to buy a 2005 Lowrider from a relative for what I consider to be a good price. Are there any major advantages to spending a little more and getting a newer model with a 96 ci engine and 6 speeds (both would be fuel injected)? Any insights would be helpful, thanks.

Depending on the price, that 05 might be a great bike. Or maybe your relative should keep it, you get another, then you can go on rides together.

If the price is right for you, go for the 05. I just came off of an 01 (88ci and 5 speed), and onto a 12. That 6th gear is awesome to have, but like i said if the price is right and you like the 05 I would go for it.

I wish i had the 96 and a sixth gear but I absolutely love my bike anyway. If the price is right, go for it.

The '05 LR is a great ride. The TC88 is a great engine, but check the cam-chain tensioners. If it an FXDLI, it isn't a carb engine. The FXDL is a carbed engine.
