Probably a stupid question
What is the little thumb-wheel thing for thats on the underside of the throttle side handlebar controls? I ordered a service manual but it has not yet arrived, or I would look this up myself

It's in your owners manual. The official purpose is to set the drag for the throttle. Increasing the drag can reduce fatigue on long trips. Unofficially it is used to hold the throttle open when set tight enough.

I use mine on long trips(I have apes) to lock the throttle so I can put my arm down and get some blood back in my fingers.

I've never used it. I've toyed with it while the bike is off, seems like a bitch to mess with while riding.
