I really would like to give it another shot without the wife on back, that was extra weight for sure,it's the first time in 4 years that I have had someone on the back,we rode 2 up for 3 years before she got her first bike 883 and had no problem with her on the back, but the RG was a lot heavier than I was prepared for,but I kept'er up ,lol, the heart rate was up a couple times I'll be honest.
I went from a 10' Wide glide to a 11' Road Glide ,do i miss my W/G ? sure had a blast riding it .I have a real bad back , the W/G just wore me out to much.
The Roadie I can ride for hours before my back gives me trouble . The Roadies are not for everyone , for me it's great .
Some day I would love to have another W/G .
Had the RGU about a week now and love it. The wife will ride on the back which she wouldn't do on the Dyna. Has turned into transportation for the both of us and we use it a for regular trips besides "bike trips."
It is a very stable bike. Of course the Dyna has quicker handling but if that is the most important, the Sportster handles quicker than the Dyna.
I love my Road Glide. The baggers do take some getting used to, but once you do, I honestly feel like they are more stable all around, even at slow parking lot speeds. I have never owned a dyna, but have ridden several. My general impression of the dyna was the same as yours of the Road Glide. Didn't feel comfy, didn't seem to handle well, etc. I would attribute all of it more to being on an unfamiliar bike than just the model. To make myself clear, I am not arguing with you or trying to say any one model is better than the other, just pointed out why you may have had some of the feelings you did. I'd own one of each family if I could....
We have a test the metal(demo rides)next Sunday and I plan on trying out a few more baggers, just to see and feel the diff rides.I know for a fact that a bagger is in my future,my back is not getting any better either, maybe try out a Road King.
