Default Power Commanders?

I just got my hands on a set of the Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 from another member on here. I'm thinking about purchasing either the Arlen Ness Big Sucker Stage 1 or the RSD Black Ops (badass looking). Do you guys suggest doing a power commander or something similar to that that? If so which are the best? Or is it better to take my bike to Harley..have them dyno it and do the ECM key thing? I talked to the dealer yesterday and I was told it would be about 700 to 800 bucks if they did it.

Any suggestions??

I'm having the same dilemma. I'm probably going with Bassani Firesweeps and have been leaning towards the RSD turbine A/C. An indy shop near me recommended the PCV. Local HD dealer and some posts I've read recommend the SE Super Tuner. Harley makes several SE tuners though, I think... The SE Super Tuner, the SE Race Tuner, and the Street Tuner... not sure if I got that right, but I don't understand the differences between them. Supposedly, the SE tuners are downloads with maps and you have to get dyno tuned... so the benefit is optimized performance but no hardware or wiring connections to get wet like the PCV or some others... I don't know if that's a real issue, just going off what I've read. I'd love to get some clarification on this whole thing. Thanks for asking this question!

I have a Power Commander 5 and I took my bike to the local dealer and they built me a Custom Map for my power commander for 230 bucks. The custom map is pretty awesome.

They charge by the hour on the dyno machine. I am not sure if they all do that or charge a flat rate. A stage 1 map should not take longer than 2 or 3 hours.

I would buy a tuner rather than having my ECM flashed. I had my wife's Slim "flashed" and they charged 182 bucks. $149 for the Map and the rest was labor. It took 5 minutes.

I just added the v&h short shots and went with the power commander v and Arlen Ness big sucker from fuel moto with a custom map. It runs great as it is but I may take it to a dyno sometime and get it tuned.

If your mileage sucks...it means you are not running lean! That is a good thing.

Hate to say this but I've had two Power Commanders, and I would NOT buy another one. They typically last a couple years and then start having problems. My local HD wrench won't even install one on a bike because he says "you'll be back in a year or two, mad at me for putting that thing on your bike" I'd go with a SERT. On the other hand, on my current bike I have V&H Twin Slash slipons, SE airbox, with the simple dealer reflash, and my bike runs great.

I've been reading about this new Cobra Fuel Processor that automatically adjusts itself for whatever conditions your bike needs! Pricey, but if it works, you're done, even when you do more upgrades you'll be set.

If all you're gonna do is intake and exhaust, I Strongly suggest a Dobeck DFO. Inexspensive and very simple to use. Other option would be a PCIII from FuelMoto. Ran the Dobeck unit for a year and a half and loved it. Went to bigger cams and had to make the change to PCIII. FuelMoto is fantastic.
