I have an 08 Super Glide. The woman I bought it from lowered it. I want to raise it back up. The standard size shocks are 12". I can buy a pair of 13.5" Progressive 412 shocks at a good price. Will they fit?
Progressive doesn't list a 13.5" 412 for the Super Glide. They do list a 440-4040 for that bike in 13.5", which means that a 13.5" shock is okay in general, but the 412's you have in mind may be for something else and may have spring and damping rates that don't work so well. If you have the 4-digit submodel number, e.g., 412-4037, you can look them up here, compare them to the 440-4040 and see if they're close.
I'm 6'9" so I need it up off the ground. Already put the forward controls on. Man did they make a difference! I'll have to keep researching the 412's to see if they'll fit.
if your're a heavier guy, i have been instructed to get a longer than stock shock. next year i'm going to redo my suspension with works perfromance. Tom at works has been extremely helpful.
my biggest complaint about my dyna is the stock suspension when riding 2 up, we always bottom out, and we are not large people, but we are over harley gvwr for the bike.
I have progressive 412 Heavy Duty shocks in 12" on my 08 fxd. Half an inch lower than stock. I'm 290ish pounds & 6'3" & my girl is 150ish. We are over the GVWR rating by like 60lbs. On the softest setting we've never bottomed out, but the bike is still higher than i would like it to be so I am going to try 11" standard progressive.
I put the 13.5" Progressives on the wife's sporty low as it was too low. I don' have the part number here but they bolted right on. Without issue. I prefer to be higher off the ground so I don't scrape so easy in the corners. I would imagine the 13.5" shocks should fit fine. If you are 6'9" you want even taller shocks like 15".

I've never heard of anybody putting anything taller then 13.5 on the dyna....that would look stupid, plus I would think it would throw off the front suspension as well
