After loosing my slip ons the other day and being stuck with no tools to try and put them back on (I would'nt have been to anyway, one got a bit squished by a car) I have been thinking of putting together a basic tool kit for my FXDC, with all the different fasteners on bikes now its not a case of have just a adjustable wrench and a couple of screw drivers like it used to be.
I am wonder what tools you guys carry? Or is there a pre set up kit from HD or somewhere else?
I don't know of a kit that can cover any possible need...
I carry
Cruztools OutbackR H13 Multi-Tool, Crescent wrench, Clear Glasses, Heavy Breather Rain Sock (and Craftsman Dog Bone SAE/Metric wrench if my saddlebags are on)
A bunch of standard open and box end wrenches, metric and standard allen sets, a star wrench set, a cresent wrench, vise grips, zip ties, phillips and flat tip screw drivers,Locktight electrical tape and maybe some other stuff I forgot about.I have two tool bags but I also don't have a garage so I keep allot of stuff that I use frequently on the bike.
i have my factory set from my road king, and my electraglide and combined them into 1 pouch.....its a good set and can do just about anything that needs to be done on the bike.
This is what I have -- don't take it along but for longer rides where I'll be gone for a few days. It's been used a few times for guy's who only carry cell phones and they can't find someone to bring them a tool 250 miles away.
I see they don't make it anymore but they're still for sale on Amazon.
