Why a Dyna?
You can easily get rid of that rear fender, lots of fenders on ebay usually..

Assuming you're comparing Big Twins only... Someone said it above but phrased it as an opinion; it's not an opinion, it's a fact. Dynas are a much better bike than the Softails for the 'performance inclined'. There're a gang of reasons for this, but for now just consider that a fundamental truth.
This is my opinion.
(And it's based on my riding habits: Mostly freeway, (All w/ raingrooves) average cruise speed 85-95mph. I split lanes in traffic and change lanes frequently to pass slower drivers when traffic is light. If this sounds like you, read on.
First, there are only 3 dynas that have the 103 motor.
My preference: FAT BOB. Hands down.
A steep 29 degree rake angle combined w/ 2 fat 16" tires makes the FB absolutely impervious to raingrooves. The WideGlide's 21" narrow front tire "walks" all over raingrooves at speed. And it's 34 degrees of rake will shake your ***** outta the bag going back & forth over the Botts dots if you split lanes. This kinda broke my heart 'cause I wanted that WideGlide more than Scarlett Jo...
...... Okay, I lied. But the bottom line here (and something many people never even consider) is frame geometry is really the biggest fundamental root difference in the Dynas. It is huge.
The FatBob makes grooves and Botts dots disappear at speed like no other Dyna. I felt the Street Bob was close, but the FB won out decisively for my riding style. Plus, I wanted the bigger motor.
I was lucky to find a dealer who let me test ride a bunch of different bikes. I hope you have that same luck... 'cause that's really the only way to know.

The Street Bob is the most blacked out model on the Dyna line-up, I say that cause based on your Sportster, that's a direction you seem to go. If you want more chrome, go with the Super Glide.
I agree with you on the tail lamp, it is ugly as **** and that why I swapped out my rear fender.

I'd say "keep the sportster" unless you have money burning a hole.
Also. For all the owners who HATE their dual headlight.... could you upgrade to a single & sell me your old one cheap

I would love to rig a dual light on my bike.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I chose the Dyna because, like the Sporty, it's just a simple, basic, honest motorcycle with no frills or gimmicks. It's pretty much that simple.
At 6'4", I'm a bit too big for a Sportster, so the Super Glide was my next best choice. I picked the FXD because I knew I'd be making changes.
The Dyna is really just a big Standard motorcycle. After almost 40 years on bikes, I know what I like.
I looked at many as well as was able to ride quite a few as I work on them and had some friends let me take theirs for rides.
I think the Dynas are much more geared towards the performance minded rider than the softtails as well as ride a bit better although I really like the looks of a stretched out lowered soft tail.
I think the Fab Bob and Street Bob have the best ride of the Dyna line up. That said, I just had to have the sleek, raked, stretched out, 21" front tire look of the Wide Glide. I also wanted 2010 or newer because I liked the side mounted license plate and position of the tail lights as well as the six-speed transmission and the 49mm front tubes.
I almost bought a 2012 but the two I looked at from dealerships had the flame paint jobs and they were a little too ostentatious for me. I stumbled across a 2010 with only 3777 miles on it and snagged it.
The original owner had installed Vance & Hines 3" slash cut slip-ons on the bike but other than that it was stock. I have recently added a Screamin' Eagle air intake, V swept back drag bars, C&C Sport Tour seat (for the wife's comfort) and changed out the hand and foot controls. I have only put about 800 miles on the bike in the past two months of ownership but I love the bike so far.
It does have a tendency to follow seams in the road more so than the Street Bob or Fab Bob but I can live with that for the looks.
Mike.
Here is how mine sits currently.
