Find a 06-08 street bob with the black motor and not the chopped fender. Great bike.

if you set your bike up right the grooves and bumps in the road almost dissapear....

im running race tech suspension up front with gold valves and superbrace and the "raingrooves" in the road arent an issue whatsoever for my 21" skinny tire.

the only thing i notice now is the infamous chassis wiggle when riding my bike hard..but a sputhe chassis stabilizer will fix that and the bike will be like riding rails...

Starting out on a Fatbob will put you ahead as far as aggressive handling performance goes especially if you find a nice used one with mid controls. It will have a '96, but the fuelmoto 107' youll put in it for under 2k including labor will smoke a 110' let alone a 103'.

Swapping headlight or fender for looks is way cheaper than buying another model for style and then shelling out $$$ beefing up the front end and adding twin discs, plus you still won't have the frame geometry bonus of the Fatbob. It will never be as light as a Sporster or have all the aesthetics of a Streetbob or wide glide, but nothing comes close in the handling department.

Softails look cool, but have no lean angle, lots of frame flex, and the counterbalanced B motor (makes less power, more buzz at speed, zero personality).

With the sportster I ride aggressively (for a Harley). I lean into curves and I love accelerating quickly. I've lightened the bike up a lot as well. I'm not into chrome much so I've considered the Fat Bob (not a huge fan of the dual headlights) and the wide glide.

I'd probably set the bike up for some 2 up riding as well.

The Softails seem way to low I'd probably be scraping floorboards like mad.

Thanks!
I love the bolded statement. I have a Deuce which has one of, if not the highest lean angles of any Harley. Plus it just looks bad ***. I'll go back to the softail forums now.

Yeah, kinda curious, myself... same frame as the rest of the Dynas is my understanding.

I've spent come time on every model of Dyna in the lineup (except the Switchback), so I will give you my opinions on the other 4:
- Street Bob and Super Glide are the same bike from a mechanical standpoint...only difference when riding is the bars. SB has mini-apes, which I don't like but to each their own.
- Street Bob is blacked out, Super Glide is chromed out.
- Wide Glide is an awesome bike, but the more rake and skinny 21" front tire are not the best for handling compared to the other Dynas. It's harder to handle at slow speeds compared to the other Dynas. Great bike though, and tops when it comes to the cool factor.
- The Super Glide is the most comfortable, especially when forward controls are added.
- The Fat Bob is not only the best handling Dyna, but the best handling bike HD has made in recent years. The dual front disks are WAY better than the singles on the rest of the Dyna lineup. The fat tires help the handling also.

I traded my Sportster for a new Super Glide Custom this spring. It came down between that & the Fat Bob, but ultimately I decided to spend that difference in $ on accessories and get the FXDC instead of the Fat Bob, and my dealer did not have a Fat Bob at that time. I love my FXDC, but if I were doing it over again I would probably get the Fat Bob for handling reasons, the 103 motor & lack of chrome. I do like chrome, but have to admit cleaning my Super Glide is time consuming with all the chrome.

For your riding style, I would recommend the Fat Bob. It is also already set up for 2 up riding, where the Street Bob is not.

Regardless of which Dyna you choose, it will be a good choice...can't go wrong with any Dyna IMO.

As for the Softails...handling is nowhere near as good as a Dyna don't care what anyone says, and I don't like the balanced motor either. The "B" motor sounds good in theory and is smooth at idle, but the non-balanced motor of the Dyna and touring bikes are smoother at speed, which is what matters.

I went from an '07 Sportster Custom to my '12 Fat Bob. No other bike I rode gave me anything near the feel of the Sportster but this bike. It's not as flickable but when you get her into a corner she just holds it well. Sometimes I feel like I could let go of the bars. Not crazy enough to try it though! And the front brakes!! Oh, and no spokes! Get the Fat Bob, you'll never look back. If you ride even slightly aggressive you will drag all kinds of stuff on most of the other bikes. The Fat Bob is the best in my opinion. Opinions vary.

I aggressively ride my 2010 wide glide on straightaways and corners- dragging the rubber off my heels.

For your set up I'd say go with the standard dyna unless you want to stretch out more with a dyna super glide or wide glide.

And now for some dyna "juice" to help your decision...

Hmm, I think I'll save up my pennies for a Fat Bob. Its closer to what I want so it'll cost less to get there

Thanks for the help guys.
