I was just at the dealership and they said "they are NOT needed unless you modify your engine."
I put straight pipes on with a Arlen Ness intake, and they dyno tuned my bike, and said a oil cooler is just a waste of money unless I modify my engine.
Everyone will have a diff opinion on this topic.
