i read this on another forum....

the cover will screw down either way but there is is a "correct" way and a "wrong" way to put these covers on.

if you look at your covers, there is a "thin" side and a "thick" side. when i took mine off held it level you can really see the thickness difference.

2007 and earlier --- put the thin end above the brake line inlet

2008 and later --- put the thick end above the brake line inlet.

mine had been installed wrong by a dealer in Tx (when the previous owner took it in for service). i called the local dummy-ship... (on a side note, i don't know why the H3LL i freaking keep doing that, don't know jack every time i call)... anyway. they "said" they had never heard of that before in "ALL THEIR YEARS OF WORKING ON BIKES".... what i needed was a new style cover and a new gasket ($60 worth of parts, and $30 to install it. WT EFFin EFF)! hung up the phone said to myself..."it's a screwdriver jack a$$ take it off and see".......

flipped the cover to the other side, been 400 drip free miles WITH the same rubber gasket that was on their.

hope that might help some!

Yeah, I'll have to check that out. When I took it off I never checked which way I put it back on...
