Default drain plug?

Ok i just bought a 2005 super glide 1450. on the brake side of the motor on the bottom there is a small hexhead plug/screw. I removed this while doing an oil change and oil came out. i know this is NOT the drain hole thats why im wondering if anyone can tell me what it is.

Thanks Mike.

Does it look something like this?

You really need to get a service manual.

Does this help? Except for the dead cat location, of course.

I cant see the pic you put up. but its no where near the real drain hole locations. Its directly under cylinders/push rod location. Its a recessed grub screw with a hex for acces. very bottom of motor. have to lay on back to see it.

Thanks Mike

I believe thats the one that people end up cracking there case removing or installing. Not sure its purpose. I would leave it alone.

lol i took it out due to bad advice and i already reinstalled it with no cracking. i just really want to know if the oil that came out was replaced by the oil change i did or not. and is it just another drain for teardown or deos it have a purpose like allowing flow of oil or such.

Thanks Mike

Pretty sure there is no normal reason to remove it. With a dry sump style pump there should be very little oil in there.

I ask because i did an oil change and got oil from harley 20-50 syn and took out nasty thin oil and now my motor seems to stay to hot to keep hand on for 3 hours after a 1 hour ride in 80 degree weather with decent humidity. any ideas?

Thanks again guys being new to a bike/atv/car really sucks while waiting the arrival of service manual..

Mike
