Default Electrical issue

First a little background, this is an 06 Street Bob with around 20 something thousand miles on it. Yesterday on the way home I got the battery light and engine light on at the same time. The bike ran normally just with the warning lights on.Then this morning I went out there and the the battery was deader a doornail.SO after six years I figured a new battery was in order I went out and got a brand new 93 friken dollar battery and installed it.The bike fired right up.So I take for a test ride and within 5 min the same lights are on.The bike runs normally just the battery and engine lights are on.

ALSO when I removed the battery there was a small loose wire attached to one of the terminals about 3" long I couldn't find anything that looked like the other end of it so I left it out.Anyone know what that was supposed to go to?

Anybody got a clue?

Make sure all your connections are clean and tight, also check the back of your voltage regulator for any heat distortion. You were due for a battery anyway, so no money wasted.

Did you check the codes and reset your codes? If not, check them, reset them and take it for another ride. Sometimes if they are not reset, they come back until you reset them.
