I thought the 1/4 fairing was all about looks. Checked out a few bikes on runs, etc. talked to the owners and found out they actully are functional I'm going to try a Roadawgz windshield on it. They sit a couple inches higher.
I've ridden well over 100k miles with a quarter fairing(BMW R90S),for my Superglide I chose a Sportech windscreen because I wanted a bigass fatboy headlight. I'm still looking for a quarter fairing that would fit with my headlight. The one I saw required that you rig your own mounts etc.,anyway this little windscreen does the job and I've had the bike over 100mph with NO wiggle.
I ordered a HD 57070-98 quarter fairing over a month ago. I finally picked it up and installed it. Best thing I've done to do the old Defender so far. When I first rode the bike without the fairing on the coast doing about 70+ I felt like I was going fly off the back. Felt like the world was pressing on my chest. Coming from the bagger side, I hadn't ridden a non fairing bike in awhile. Now I can do 80-90 comfortably. Now I got to get rid of the high speed wiggle. Like I said best thing you can do to a Dyna if you want to go long distances.
True track. It was instantly the best mod I have done. After the first ride, you realize what the bike is supposed to handle like. No wobble, on a rail.
That's on my list.
1. Paint fairing
2. Install black bars, mirrors, and levers (got 'em)
3. Install FXDX shocks (got 'em) need longer jiffy stand
4. Heavier fork oil & or emulators (gotta buy)
5. Chassis stabilizer (gotta buy)
6. Install black 2:1 pipes (gotta buy)
True track. It was instantly the best mod I have done. After the first ride, you realize what the bike is supposed to handle like. No wobble, on a rail.
