Default 2003 FXDL 19" to 21" tire???

I have an 03" FXDL and I am changing the front end to a wide glide, Pro-One forks, and I was wondering what changes in ride I would feel by going with a 21" wheel instead of the 19"? Maybe a smaller tire will wear faster than the bigger one? Other than that, is there a reason this modification should not be done? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I just asked a similar question about turning my wide glide rear into a DL rear. Doesn't seem like alot of people here know much about customizing the bikes. I ride a wide glide and can tell you that I like the wide glide feel of the 21 much better than the 19 of the dl. The only thing is that the thinner front doesn't like groves on the road as much as a 19. It gets a little squirley compared to a wider front tire. I ride dirt bikes, so the shimmey isn't anything to really worry about, but a squid would soil himself the first time he tries to split lanes.

all in all, I think it's a much better ride. Just hold on!

Thanks for the info. I went into the dealership and asked the service rep. what the sizes were for front and back rims. I knew they were 19" & 16" but wanted to know widths. He told me front was 21" and he couldm't give me widths. I said front was 19" and he replied with "No, it's 21" as he was looking in the manual. Once again, I said its 19" and I would like to know widths. He couldn't tell me. I then told him I was replacing the front controls with chrome and I asked ifthe brake , plunger, I guess, was 9/16" or 5/8". He then went to a bike and was gauging rubber on the outside of the master cylinder with his hands. I could not f*^'N Believe it! The dealership used to have very knowledgable people working for them. They obviously don't work there anymore. Very frustrating. Thank goodness for this site.
