Primary oil leak
Got bike propped up enough to get my head and a hand up in under the primary and turns out my "leak" was coming from a pile of gunk - from the original leak - caught up on a ledge behind the primary. Must have been liquifying when the primary heated up and trickling down creating the impression of a leak.
One good powerhosing later and my leak has disappeared and primary has never sounded healthier since I bought it too
You got lucky my friend. Mine is fresh primary oil still dripping 1 drip when I park. I'll find it!
By the way when I was in my primary I discovered the compensator nut (bolt) was backed off and I could turn it by hand. Sure wasn't the 80 to 100 ft pounds of torque it was supposed to be, and because of this it expanded the compensator and threw everything out of balance. Also the clutch drum bolts were not torqued and secured with loctitie. F'in wrench that put it back together and charged me for this mess. Lesson learned.
And my ride has lost the clatter and become sensationally smooth up to 90+ mph. It was getting shaky at 50 before, and that's why I was only cruising 55 most the time. Now at 70 I glide through the air very nicely.
Something to be said for taking care of one's own ride!!!
