I went riding today and noticed some condensation under the glass of the speedometer. What caused this? My bike is under warranty still, should I take it to the shop and let them fix it? Or should I fix it?
Would indicate a leak somewhere in the gauge letting moisture in. Probably have to fight the dealer to get it replaced. They will tell you it's "normal" but as far as I know, the gauge should be sealed. Electronics don't like moisture.
Mine is still under warranty so they'll fix it trust me. The key to getting the dealer to fix things under warranty is persistence, and being a bigger ******* then the dealer. I really don't understand why Harley owners don't take a stand with warranty work. Harley acts that the Harley name speaks for itself, when in fact nothing is perfect. If your bike is still under warranty MAKE THEM FIX IT! 15 grand for a bike it better not leak, pop when decelerating. Don't get me wrong I love my bike, but if we were talking about anything that I own that was still under warranty I'd make them fix it.
My 11 King dose that some times. From what I can tell most of the times I see some in it, the Sun is shining on it. I have never said any thing to the Dealer, I have a feeling they will say "that's normal". Just for the hell of it, I will bring it up next time I stop in and find out what they do say about it.
Yes, it's common, every single Harley I've owned, it will go away after a sunny day or two, no worries.
I have had luck since I replaced mine with Dakota digital gauge, no such problem.
Yep, they all do it, at least the 05, 07, 08, and 11 I've owned all did it. Had a dealer say that it was normal and wouldn't hurt the gauges. The 07 was a street glide and all the gauges, large and small did it. Same with the 08 road glide.
You can go to the dealer press the subject, but the replacement will probably do the same. I've just learned to ignore it. tomp dd50
Mine did it so many times and so bad that it left a film on the underside of both the speedo and fuel gauge. I can not see through either when the sun shines on them.
Good LUCK getting the dealer to replace it!
Was shown a dealer memo from Harley saying that they will NOT warranty them!
Got sooooo pi$$ed at them that I now have a Dakota Digital waiting for me to find the time to install it.
