ya know..... when i swapped out the throttle and idle cables, i phound that if the cables weren't in just the right place, the return either didn't work, or was very slow.
maybe try moving the position of the cable routing, and play with the throttle, see if you can phind one where the return works better.
you didn't happen to take the whole thing apart did you?

Yep; go down to the carb/throttle body and put the return cable back on the rotator sheave, the bottom end of the cable probably fell out of place. Next time get a couple pairs of hemostats and clamp the cables in the taught position at the grip so the bottom won't come out when changing cables on the grip, don't ask how I know
