Default Rear Shock adjustment help

My rear shocks were set at "4" and I thought that it might ride better at "2" (I'm around 145 lbs) so I tried adjusting them with my spanner wrench. One side will only go from 4 to 5 and back to 4, I can't get it to move below 4 to 3 or lower (nearly tipped the bike trying). Any ideas on getting this shock to free up or should I start looking for new shocks?
Thanks - Bob

My adjusts just fine up and down the load marks, might have a mechanic look at it? Or put it on a lift?

are you cranking it clock wise? i always found it easier to go past 5 back to 1 and up from there rather than trying to go backwards with the shock adjustment.

give that a shot and see if it doesnt work for you.

Thanks for the "clockwise" tip, I'll try that as soon as I get home!

I shot a little WD-40 in a couple of the holes at the bottom of the shocks and was able to adjust them "clockwise" to a setting of "2". The old saying goes: "You don't know what you don't know" LOL. I appreciate the advice, in my defense I did check the owners manual and couldn't find anything that said how to adjust them. Thanks again to 1HD1C for the help!

Most times it's a customer just asking me to offer advice about upgraded shocks and what not and usually it depends on what he's willing to spend and what he wants, lowered, comfort or performance.

Now that you have the shocks moving, put some grease on the ramps. I used a small flat screw driver and spread grease all over the ramps. This will stop any rust or corrosion from seizing your movement and make it easier to adjust in the future.
I usually lift the rear end up and adjust them to the max and min to spread the grease around and then put them at the desired setting.
