Im just an idiot but before you spend money, reset your fact settings by disconnecting neg batt cable turning bike to full on pressing start swithch while cable is diconnected. It drains all power stored in bike capacitors. once you plug everything back in the comp has to relearn all fuel trims while you are riding. Try it you might be surprised.

I suggest a tuner, do it right, do it once. In the future any changes you will make will be able to be tuned. You can spend a 100 and get XIED or 225 and get a tuner, to me that is a no brainer. I would just not suggest a SERT they are more expensive to dyno down the road if you later do motor mods
