Default Need Some Advise

I have a 2007 Dyna Street Bob that i just bought 3 days ago. I went on a little ride today and it was good untilI stoped for a while and then I started it up again. the check engine light came on alot and it sputtered thru all the gears. Also when I would come to a stop it would shut off, and was hard to start again. The engine light has come on before on a previous ride. Like i said i have only had the bikeabout 3 days. I know the bike it fuel-injected so i only let it warm up for about a min or so, Do I need to let it warm up for longer? I am going to tkae it to the shop on Tuesday if it will make it. Not really the best tast for a first Harley. Any info would be appreciated.

Same exact thing happened to my '05 1200R last year, one weekout of the box. Dealer found a loose connecter under the seat. Sure it is something simple - I was able to limp to my dealer to get the problem corrected. Can't remember which system was affected; more than likely fuel delivery - paperwork went to the new owner.

Good Luck!!!

Fortunately, not everyone has them problems. I've been riding Harleys since 1953 and have yet to have my first problem on a new scoot. Back to the dealer you should go. Probably one of them things that should have been observed/corrected during Dealer Prep.

It is a shame too when the dealer's shop manager tells you "it's part of the Harley experience!" I toured the KC factory last year; they sure appear to have their @#$% together...Fourtunately, I've had no probs w/ my '06 Bob, yet.

SB07 makes a great point; you need to find a dependable dealership. I was so disgusted w/ the service dept. where I bought my last two Harleys I now take it to a dealer who is 80 miles away. Small, family owned and customer-service oriented.

Of course you hear bad things...because people don't report when they don't have problems. When was the last time someone started a thread that said..."New Harley runs perfectly" ? I've been hearing bad things about harleys since I was old enough to read about them. At the same time, I've heard many good things about harleys too...especially later model harleys...and the fact that mine has been perfect for it's first 18 months is enough for me.

The majority of people who have bought these bikes haven't had major problems. It's just when people do, they tend to talk about. I don't think it's any different with any other bike...or car for that matter. Go to a Honda or Toyota message board....these are supposed to be the most reliable cars on the planet. I guarantee you will find a section that deals with problems...and you will find a billion and one people talking about things that go wrong. Harleys are no exception to this rule.

Sorry to hear you're having such a problem with your new ride Williams...do like the others said and get it to the dealer...don't take it back until you know it's fixed.

Same problem here, My first ride less than 20 miles on the bike engine light came on and afterstopping to check connections was hard to start. Limped back to the dealership and they found a loose ground. 6000 miles later, no problems.

true ... mechanical things will allways have "problems" . I work for toyota in the engine plant in huntsville alabama , if we had a problem like I had with my dyna with less than 1000 miles and like what he is having then the whole line would be shut down . The problem would be fixed , every engine that could possibly have a problem would be held up examined and most likely scrapped . We would then be working 7 days a week to make up for the scrap .

Now then Harley has had a problem with the inner primary bearing , axles and tranny just to name a few . Imagine for one second that a metric bike had the same problems mentioned above ... most HD riders would be calling the bike a pos . But just b/c its a "HD" its ok .

I come from metric bikes ... I wanted a harley as long as I can remeber . I love my harley davidson and if God is willing I will allways own at least one . But come on the moco is dropping the ball if they have this many problems and are not trying to fix it .
