I've noticed that most major exhaust brands (ie: Rinehart, V&H) No longer make many if any exhaust models for the 91-05 year Dyna's. Is there a major change that would prevent a newer pipe from fitting an older Dyna such as my 2001?? I realize that newer Dyna's had FI, which would have o2 sensor bungs, but they can just be plugged, correct??
I have noticed this too, although you can still find most of the old pipes on eBay, I just bought some rineharts 2-2 flush for my 04 wg. I know some differences may be by the way they are mounted.
Right, so my burning question is that if i currently have pipes for my 2001 dyna and I down the road purchase a new set of pipes but use my current "older" mounts, would it work?? Are the pipes themselves any different?
05 and older:
-No O2 sensors
-5 speed transmission has different hole pattern than 6 speed for bracket
-Oil filler in different location, sometimes a problem, sometimes not
I find myself in this exact situation with a very similar question. I'm replacing my Rinehart Churchill 2-2 Chrome exhaust on my 2005 FXDLI. All I want are Rinehart 2-1's. These are the ones I've found, model # RINE-200-0301. I've been digging these forums and using my Google-Fu and from what I understand this should be doable? All you should need is a Bung adapter kit, O2 plug, and clearance for the oil filter, aye?
Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I have a 05 super glide and a 2010 wide glide.
Bassani exhaust and V&H big radius. Either pipe works on either bike.
The 2 pipes do use different bolt mounting but both transmission bolt patterns work on either.
Why would the oil filter be in the way? There are plenty of clearance on both of our bikes with either set of pipes.

Its going to depend on the pipe, I tried a Bassani Road Rage on my 2000 FXDX and it wouldn't fit. The front pipe would hit the frame and you couldn't get it in to position.
