As a newbie to these forums, and an on/off metric rider since the late 60's, I still haven't got a handle on the used value of a Harley. I'm being told of a bike for sale here in Tulsa where the prior owner went down at slow speed, but became afraid of the bike to the point that he's selling. He's asking $10,500 for the repaired 97 low rider. Also, the lower left side case apparently has it's coating starting to peel away, and that hasn't been fixed. Is this a deal assuming all else would check out?
I think Skip hit it on the head, if the bike has been down check it over carefully and price out any parts to make it right before you buy. Have somebody that knows bikes check it over also so you don't gewt stung.
seems a little high to me. but lowriders are pretty nice. i paid 8300 for my 98 superglide, they were asking 9,000. some aftermarket chrome, spokes, seat/sissy bar, and SE slip-ons.
I have a 99 Wide Glide that I have for sale for 11,000.....It has LOTS of extra chrome including lower forks..Has never been down and is in outstanding condition with 23000 miles....I live in Fl....Just to give you an idea on other bikes/prices....Happy hunting...
My wife sold her '97 Lowrider with 47,000 miles for 8,500. It had a lot of extras, and was in good shape. 10,500 seems pretty high to me. For 15,000 you can buy a brand new Superglide with a two year warranty.
I would be reluctant to pay that for a bike that had been down and repaired.

or less! i looked at fuely 05 superglide with spoke rims (actually exactly like my 98, but the new version) for 13,000... most were less than that. someone posted they found an '06 for 12,500 or something on this forum. for 2500 extra, i would buy new, as bill suggested. superglides and lowriders are so very close. i bought used but the price was about 5,000 different and the bike had right aroun 10,000 miles.
I would say for a bike thats been down (not knowing how bad it went down) thats a little high but I don't know your area too well I picked up my 98 lowrider for 10,500 with 9500 miles with a bunch of chrome.
I would start talking to him and see just how low he will go just be careful if he goes real low after you start pressing the issue it may have more wrong with than he's telling you.
