I was informed of this in two different HD shops. There are threads on this forum about boards but apparently this ket it now avail...it was not in 07 when I got my Bob. Inquire. And it is not yet on the custom site.

One part of having mids that I like is the fact that I can raise my butt up off the seat when going over RR tracks, rough roads, etc. If you know how safely, you can also stand on the pegs while riding, to stretch, and air out the sweaty pants syndrome. Hard to do either of those things with forwards. They plant you more into instead of onto the seat. tomp dd50

on my 2012 SB I have foward controls but I left mid mount pegs on as well. I have kuryakyn stirrups on my fowards that kinda meet up with the mids creating several comfort options. opposite of what others usually do with highway pegs. works for me

But now under the HD1 program I have learned that you can now get the boards that are stock on the SwitchBack. Just a thought.
You can get them yes, but it doesn't look like they'll come on it from the factory. They are not even on the bike builder and will more then likely be dealer installed...no thanks. That means labor cost.

I've come to learn that 95% of the time guys at the HD shop don't know any more than I do and most of the time less.

Anyway I run mids with highway pegs. I don't like the transition of moving my feet to forwards from a stop and the ability to move back and forth out on the slab which is the only place I use the highway pegs anyway.

Test ride a Wide Glide and see which you like better. It already has forwards.

Thanks for the replies on this. I think mids are the way I would like to go.

I have had pretty much every option you can for foot position on a Street Bob and I will say that the FLD boards that I just put on are by far the best otion I've had. Mids are ok but would get cramped after a while so I ran highway pegs, but I found myself on the highway pegs more often so I switched to Forwards. I ran standard length forwards for a couple years and over time became less fond of begin so stretched so I went to reduced reach forwards. That helped a little but I still didn't like the stretch anymore. I was all set to go back to mids with highway pegs but decided to give the boards a try and they are great. My feet end up right in between the mids and forwards.

i will second that, i have tried mids, forwards and boards. im running with boards. a lot of it really depends on your inseam. forwards were to far out there for my 29 inch inseam..

I have forward controls on my 2010 Street Bob. As has been said, your height probably has a bit to do with it. I am 6'1" with long legs. My legs aren't even close to straight on mine. I have always had forward controls on my bikes though so I'm used to them. I love dragging my pegs on the twisties. With forward controls, the heel of my boot drags first letting me know exactly how much further I can lean the bike over. I think it really comes down to personal preference. It would be nice to be able to raise my rear out of the saddle on bumps though.

I think it really depends on your riding style and your height. I've got a 34" inseam and I'm running forwards. At no point have I ever wished I had mids. Way too cramped feeling. I've sat on the Switchbacks with the boards and it was ok, but I still like the forwards better. 90% or more of my riding is shorter rides (50 miles or less) and I live in Minnesota, where the roads are for the most part pretty straight. Closest thing to curvy roads on my normal ride is the cloverleaf from one highway to the next...

You can do the opposite of us mids riders, and put some mid pegs, sans controls for those bumps times and to change your seat/butt contact point occasionally. We put forward hiway pegs on to do the same thing.
