Default Mid mount vs. forward pegs on a Bob

I am thinking about getting a Street Bob under the HD1 program. The bike can be ordered with either the standard mid mount pegs or with forward controls. For those of you who have switched from the stock mid mount pegs to forwards on your Bobs, can you tell me the difference in handling such as in the twisties? I am not looking for a sport bike, but I do want something that I can ride fairly agressively on the roads I live near in North Georgia. Thanks for any info.

To each their own, I always wanted forward control. I have ridden mid control when I first got it, it isn't my thing, I like my legs rest straight most of the time. A lot of ppl said mid control handles better on turns, I disagreed and I ride it like a stole it . However when you ride fast, mid control does help your feet on the pegs firmly. Depends on riding style, you can keep the mid control and get highway pegs like most ppl do.
Mid control isn't really a sport bike thing, some like and some don't.

No doubt the mids are WAY better for aggressive twisty riding. Ever see motocross or road racers with forwards? No!

I'd suggest keeping the mids and putting a set of hwy pegs on for cruising the slabs! Works for me.

Do this. I had forwards, switched to mids to be able to throw my bike around easier. Now the forwards are for touring, mids for twisties. EzPZ

After having to sell the 07 Bob a couple years ago...I too am looking at the HD1 program and I learned a few things... First, I opted for forwards on mine originally and on a long trip...really stunk. Shoulda stayed with mids and got hi way pegs. But now under the HD1 program I have learned that you can now get the boards that are stock on the SwitchBack. Just a thought.

When I was looking for my V-rod I had the same issue coming from Dirt and sports bikes I wanted Mids. What I found was it was real easy to do a dual shifter . So that's what I did went with a V that came with Mids and ran a Shifter to the forward Highways . This way I'm in my mids most of the time for twisties but on Hwy I can still down and up shift without bringing the foot back. As for the Brake if I need that at that speed a few seconds won't matter.
Look at the difference in the setups and see if you can run linkage for both.

Get the floor boards.I rode with mids only for years thought that was fine then got hwy pegs it's nice to have an alternative place for your feet but on a long trip I found the mids were still more comfortable. The I discovered floorboards are just about perfect they split the distance between mids and forwards and if you want you can still run hwy pegs on a crash bar.

Now that is interesting. I did not see that as an option on the HD1 website. Is that something that has to be ordered by the dealer?

My 07 SB had the mids when I got it and I switched to forwards after a month and loved them. I still loved the handling and they were perfect for long rides and around town. I bet your height will have a lot to do with it, it'd be best if you could ride both before purchase. I'm 5'8 btw.

I have highway pegs on mine for the long, straight roads. I can downshift and apply the rear break with my heel.

When the road gets twisty though, I always go back to my mids.
