Default 96TC top speed

I have a 2007 FXDC, stock except for SE slip ons. Had the opporunity to open it up and a safe and clear highway here in Arizona. Got to 105 and felt that was about it. Had more throttle but it didn't seem to do anything (maybe a couple of mph more). I was in 6th gear and was wondering if 5th might have been better. Don't have a tach so I don't know. The engine was nowhere near maxed out. I had a 87 softail that would do 120 easily, but it as a 5 speed.

I know I'm stupid for this fun stuff. If you're going to tell me to slow down don't reply.

Thanks

Mine will do 105 in 4th gear. I've seen arround 125 in 5th on a dyno.

I have a 2007 FXDC with stage 1 and SE204 cams. I've been to 105 and think I have a bit more to go, maybe at 110. Also, I weigh 210, so that will slow her down.

Over a 100 mph, wind resistance is a big factor. A dyno run will go much higher as no weight and wind to factor in.

A dyna is not very aerodynamic, about the same as a brick (sideways). Anything above 100 mph, aerodynamics becomes more important than horsepower. To hit 150 mph on a Super Glide, I would guess over 150 hp would be needed and go up exponentially from there. If you dressed up a Super Glide like a Hyabusa, it might hit something like 140mph with a stock motor. Just having some fun theorizing based on my idiot days 30 years ago....................

Slow down!!

Ha! I ain't slowin down either. What you HAVE TO DO is get a 2into1 Vance and Hines, an open element air cleaner, K&N or SE and either the SE "Race Tune" down load or other similar tune. After that you'll do a LOT more than 105 I guarantee it. ; )

Had my 88" wideglide up to 110 a couple of times.I have 510 cams and Thunderheader, and carb jettted accordingly though.I would imagine if u tune it (assuming ur injected),and put on a better breathing air cleaner you would get a little more top end mph.It sounds like you're still a little too restricted on the intake side of things.

Fully loaded for Sturgis in '09... '08 FXDC.. we were passing folks at around 105... and it was still pulling... based on how she felt, I woulda been pushing the tire rating. I'm also running a TTS tuner.

You might need a longer road.
I've hit 120 (indicated) on a 2011 Fat Boy, a 2010 1200 Sportster Low, and a 2008 Road King, all bone stock rental bikes (no windshield, head down on the tank). My bone stock 2010 Road King (same engine as yours) gets to 100 quickly, 110 with effort, and 120+ with more effort. At your next opportunity at a high speed run open the throttle all the way, tuck down out of the wind, and hold on. Nothing sounds better than a 45 degree air cooled V-twin with a single crankpin fully wound out in top gear!

ive had mine around 110 in 5th gear. id agree that your bike isnt breathing enough. i did a 2-1 (thunderheader) and currently running a fuelpak, and a ness stage 1 air cleaner. really woke the bike up. sometime soon ill be getting a better tuner which will probably wake it up more.

110 with a '11 FXDC stock and a huge Touring windscreen. Been there for a good 30 secs with no improvement, that was defo max speed on 6th gear. Went to 110 without windscreen, again in 6th and felt like there was more but run out of road and had to back the throttle off. Not the most comfortable riding I must admit...
I believe it should be good for 120, although to me it's a pure useless statistic, high speed and Harley don't go together...
