Default LED headlight bucket

So i bought my street bob the new harley LED headlight. My question there is almost no difference from the stock bucket to the new one they said i need, i mounted it on my stock bucket and it is secure and just fine. Has anyone else down this and had success or failure. For 70 bucks, it disnt look necessary.

mine went in fine. no problems so far. i think they were just trying to get an extra $70 from you. and seeing that your from the bay area, i hope it wasnt dudley perkins who tried this. thats where i bought mine and they never mentioned having to get a new bucket.

The harley parts book shows the bucket is requied, the only thing i saw different on it is some extra rubber on the bottom to hold it better maybe, but its not going anywhere, looks wise it doesnt look much different except for head on.

I installed mine in my stock bucket as well, no need for the new HD bucket it calls for on the parts page info. You might be able to sell the new one if not try returning it to your dealer and see if they will give you a refund, but most likely store credit.

Not needed. If I remember correctly it says that it fits in a few models but not all? But it fits in all.

There's an o-ring (or rubber shim) in the kit that is used "if you need it". Maybe that's the difference but I fitted it my FXDWG perfectly and others have done it too.

I have later changed the bucket to a aftermarket Headwinds china copy and it fits perfectly in that one too. The key is to get a bucket that takes H-D original bulbs, then it fits!
